The Show
In 1870, Charles Dickens died without completing his final novel, 'The Mystery of Edwin Drood'.
And that's where YOU come in!
We have created a show with story, original and period music, and projected visuals which set the scene and lay out the mystery before an audience - the question is, can they solve it?
There are two versions of the show: a one-hour version suitable for meetings, groups, etc and a two-part version with an interval suitable for booking by Halls and theatres.
The music is acoustic, and folk in style. It is performed entirely live by Fool's Gold. There is a LOT to join in with, in the songs, and through the story too.
We have all of our own gear, including PA and projection, and are fully insured.
All we really need, is your venue, and your audience to have a great time, solving 'The Mystery of Edwin Drood'.
Fool's Gold
Fool's Gold is Carol and Steve Robson. We have been playing music to audiences for (lots) of years and have presented our themed shows to audiences all over the UK. We have played for groups such as U3A, Probus, WI, TWG and countless others.
We've played in Village Halls, Community Spaces and theatres - even once in a metre square black box - but that's another story!
We play mostly acoustic instruments - everything is live, especially the singing - which audiences can't help but join in with!
The visuals are a big part of the show and are a fascinating mixture of stills, photos, animations, and movies.
What's that?
There are no movies of Charles Dickens?
Really? He's in our show!
Fees
We understand the financial situation completely and attempt to make our shows as cost-effective as possible.
The fee for the shortened show is £95, and the full experience is £200.
If we need to travel very far, we also charge fuel to and from the venue, which is done at cost.
Our base is near Durham, but we are happy to travel anywhere!
