We're often asked; 'why are you called Fool's Gold?'

There is a stock answer to this, it's just that I've told it so many times that I'm not sure I believe myself anymore.

It goes like this...

When we started in Folk Clubs years ago we were going to play at a club for the first time. It was just us. 

​

The organiser said 'well, there's two of you, so you're a band: what are you called?'

​

We had no idea.

​

So we chose the name of the first song we were due to play that night. 

​

And it's on this album 20-odd years later!

​
